no we are not moving into this house, although i sure can dream that we would (pretty please!). been spending more time on blogger for a good bit now and kinda finding it works better for us and is maybe a tad easier for this family-on-the-go. so with that, we have found our internet home and it’s not the least bit different, just added an “s.” haha! we welcome you into our home and sure do hope you’ll stay friends!
thank goodness it’s friday and no work this weekend! we’ve got some fun plans ahead – birthday parties and brunches..with maybe a little zoo action. what’s making this day so great also is that this momma got the part time position at work!! self high fives for everyone! super excited about it and spending more time with our little lady. however, it doesn’t start till beginning of february..but i think i can make it now with some light at the end of the tunnel!
we’d really love some snow here in DC soon, preferably a weekend momma is home :) clementine is not impressed by this warmer weather haha! this grumps makes me crack up every time and also reminds me of this.
there’s nothing i love more than an afternoon of DIY bliss with a good lady friend. we started the pure chaos sometimes but also fun of DIY projects for the holidays coming up. i found a great idea to make your own coasters as gifts for the holidays.
i bought the white tiles at home depot (self high fives for going to home depot alone and with a baby!) and the scrapbook paper, mod podge, and acrylic spray at the craft store. below is before and after. can’t wait to prep these babies for some family holiday gifts!
today marks the beginning of my thanksgiving holiday! little miss and i are gonna visit out friend maria and ella for a fun day together.
im up bright eyed and bushy tailed with excitement because im heading out to buy some supplies for DIY holiday gifts! heck yeah! we thought we’d spend the play date having fun, making some DIY goodies, maybe watching magic mike haha! (you know our husbands won’t watch it). i have a feeling today is gonna be a good one :) hope yours is too!
halloween is special, especially the first one. due to hurricane sandy, papa had to make up hours at work and unfortunately missed most of the evening, luckily i caught some great pictures just for him. we have some really wonderful neighbors who helped us so much during the storm – playdates with the babies, help taking zoey outside, and food for mike. my heart was full knowing my family was well cared for, i’m not sure i can thank them enough!
we decided we would have fun with a max (where the wild things are) and a lion for the holiday and tote them around a few houses! some of the little kids were so excited to have their first trick-or-treaters (because you know babies trick-or-treat VERY early ha!). it’s so nice to live near some houses and have a sense of community that sometimes our apartment building lacks. after trick-or-treating, we had some inside and then the adults had some delicious food and beverages to cap off the night. it was such a fun evening, can’t wait to do it again soon! next year, we will definitely be trick-or-treating in full force, family costume maybe? ha!
happy (belated) halloween!! we made the babies work hard for their candy hehe!
my sweet little max, my heart melted with her smile.
shakes and gorillas. you know you wish you were there! ha! there truly is no better DC fun day than visits to shake shack and the zoo. thinking of their custard makes me drool right now, and of course their burgers and fries. i’m so glad this NYC chain came to DC (i know as if we need any more burger, shake, fry places in DC; but seriously LOVE this place). they have their holiday shake/custard specifics and i got the frankenstein one, which as a pregnant lady (last year) attempted to get several times but always there on the wrong day.
my friend’s favorite animal is the gorilla and the sheer joy on her face when we visited them was priceless. bless you friend for making me giggle while holding a certain little lady that wouldn’t let anyone else hold her ALL day (stranger danger already?!).
auntie ashley was taking care of all the kids. better watch your kids because she may steal them :)
over the weekend, we geared up for our first race post-baby! we decided to take advantage of this beautiful fall weather and visit the army 10 miler expo to get our race packets, then head over to eastern market. i really love living so close to DC and able to visit the flea market and all the homemade items for sale. the bear shirt was pretty spot on for a gift to give my brother, blast they didn’t have his size!
we also stopped by for a bite at good stuff with uncle chris, goodness do i love that place. cheeseburgers, fries, shakes. the infamous toasted marshmallow shake is heaven with a straw in it. bless you spike and your creations! luckily, we were able to sit outside as it was kind of crazy with all the veterans in town for the race on sunday.
pre-race photo. we obviously all look very awake this early in the morning! and our survival photo, we don’t look too unhappy, right?
post-race brunch and beverages with poppop and nana. and our little miss in her first high chair! time is flying way too fast for us over here.
and to close our day, papa was not feeling well (which momma clearly did not know before the race OR somebody would not have been running it!) after the race and ended up with some sort of bug. he’s still home, not feeling great but he’s got a great nurse if i must say! visiting an urgent care clinic, is NOT fun with children. the end. haha!
my friend katie will forever be referred to as “katie from chicago” despite her moving up to new york this coming week. it is with a very heavy heart to say goodbye for now to such a good friend. we first became friends sitting next to each other in nursing pre-requisite courses, where it all began! since then, we’ve both graduated from school and work at the same children’s hospital. together we’ve competed in a triathlon and tons of running events downtown, gotten into plenty of shenanigans on the weekends, seen through engagements and pregnancies, and now babies. i can’t imagine not getting together for a morning run and breakfast or zoey, the pup, not freaking out with excitement when katie comes over, so for now i’ll say so long and not goodbye dear friend. and don’t tell me you’re one of those “oh we’ll keep in touch” people because lord knows i’m gonna stalk your butt if i don’t hear from you! miss you tons already.
like i’ve said before, i’ve been working so many weekends lately, it sure was such nice to have labor day off! i took full advantage of the day off starting bright and early. uncle chris met us for a morning run through rock creek park with little miss (god bless those jogging strollers because they are a sure bet way to get in a nap!).
we also brunched post-run at a city favorite of ours – open city. their menu has a great selection and really wonderful coffee.
we visited with some dear college friends. great company, good laughter, and delicious food. i mean delicious. they made a huge afternoon meal full of italian food, my stomach was so happy!
the next day, we had a morning breakfast and coffee date just husband and i at northside social (our favorite place for coffee, baked goods, and wine/beer). i think it might of been our second time away from little miss, which is kinda bad but so special because we don’t get many opportunities just us two.
and i totally caught these two reading stories. my heart is full! these two make it melt so easily. papa gets very into the stories as you can tell :)
we met up with friends for brunch-lunch-momma/papa beverages over the weekend at meridian pint. the food is always great and the beverage menu does not disappoint. and i kind of like it’s slogan of being a neighborhood place. because.. well it’s kinda sweet.
our friends seem to have this parenting trial gig down pretty well, right?! clementine sure could use a playmate close by (and i’m sure their child will be a tad bit taller than our shorty – sorry kid you get zero height from us).
little miss sure did love erin the most. they did a photo shoot in the city and she got some of her gummy smiles and sass.
little miss with her poppop. we are truly lucky that my parents live close because they were able to watch her some and she sure does seem peachy about spending time with them, minus a few loads of laundry. note: outfit and crazy lady hair, clearly momma was at work. haha.
