really loving these morning jogs along the potomac river with little miss in tow. i’m pretty sure there’s nothing better than a morning like this:
as much as we are SO over our tiny tiny apartment, it sure is worth it sometimes when right out your doorstep is all the trails along the GW parkway and throughout DC. sometimes i need to remind myself of that while we squeeze a dog, baby, and us into a one bedroom place. haha! we sure do love being in each other’s personal space :) (kidding)
somebody takes after their papa! my parents refer to papa as “wooden leg” because the teenage boy in him heads for the goodies in their fridge within 30 minutes of arriving at their house, always ha! here a certain little one (with no manners haha!) is licking her tray clean of green beans. she hasn’t met a food she doesn’t like yet hooray! shes also started a pout if you’re not feeding her fast enough even. ohh our clementine :)
can i tell you how much i wish sweetgreen had a frequent customer card? yup, because it’s really that bad of a habit. i’m pretty sure whomever came up with the concept of healthy salads to go is pure genius and has quite a money tree going these days. we took our little family of four (including the pup) to grab some delicious food for the evening before i worked all weekend, boo!
it really humbles my little heart when i get messages at work of husband and little miss having such a good weekend. these two, well, they just make me smile. first time on the swings (yes, i may have pouted and teared up missing this moment) with papa and all smiles (still toothless!). i hate missing weekends with them, but this helps a little. hope you’re off to some fun things this weekend! we sure are – wedding on a boat (let’s hope this girl doesn’t get sea sick, ha!), exploring rock creek, and i’m guessing a visit to a brunch place in the district. CANNOT WAIT!
our sweet, little clementine has developed quite the grasp and coordination these days. while eating one of her favorites, sweet potatoes, she decided it would go down much better if she grabbed the bowl. one can easily guess where this went to next….
i wish i had caught it on camera because somebody (i won’t say names) was so impressed with themselves and kept giggling at the mass quantities of sweet potato oozing everywhere. and then pure joy on that person’s face when they got to finish their food naked. we may have our work cut out with this one…
this household really loves fall. apple picking, cool air, pants finally! and this year will be even more fun with a little one around (already so excited for halloween with her!). after such a hot summer inside, we fully welcome fall with some big smiles around these parts!
we may have already broken out the baby legwarmers at the first bits of fall-like weather. an early viewing of elf or love actually may need to occur because i’m just a little too excited to wait. hip hip hooray!
two words that should always be in a sentence together: babies and gnomes. when pondering loads of ridiculous ideas for a baby halloween costume, i think we may have a winner. meet the older version of clementine dressed as a gnome, haha! how fantastic is this costume?! as husband knows, halloween is one of my favorite holidays and i usually try to convince zoey, the pup, that wearing a costume is fun but this year i will whole heartily convince little miss that it is a fantastic idea to be a baby gnome! i’m planning to change up some of the costume and sew it myself, so it’ll be a bit different but the overall idea is there. i guess the first few nice days in DC, have me convinced fall is near!
one can probably not tell but this naked baby is teething and bearing the brunt of a cold. i mean seriously is she gonna teeth till shes 12?!? nobody talks about teething being like a bad boyfriend you can’t get rid of, they just keep coming around for..months! and don’t worry ive done enough momma guilt over the whole cold catching from daycare, i believe ive done enough damage haha and we are on the mend.
here’s to a new day tomorrow and praying those teeth make an appearance soon!
Please note: sweet converse knit kicks from our friend steph found on…wait for it…our favorite place ever = etsy (dear etsy, i love you.)
we decided to start with purees instead of rice cereal at 4 months. everybody does it differently, so this is just what worked for our family. plus starting with avocados just seems more fun, doesn’t it? and this shouldn’t shock you, but we are making our own purees! we luckily got a food maker from my dear friend, ash, who wasn’t using hers and so we are whipping up some delicious goodies over here. i’m such a nerd, i was so excited about making our own foods for little miss. i mean SO excited.
miss avocado face, nom nom..
zoey, the pup, carefully studying this little human.
our little miss sure did love the avocado and did so well with it too! zoey has realized that little miss may be a future best friend as she kept her eyes on every dribble (probably hoping that there was some bit on the floor, crazy pup). papa has even fed baby and he did awesome, i was at work too! it’s taken some time for him to get comfortable with it, but he was a rockstar of course. we’ve done oatmeal and next up is bananas.
note: she is in a bumbo, but is supervised and we are in process of getting safety belt for recall.
